IEC Texas Gulf Coast

Formed in 1927, the IEC Texas Gulf Coast is a dynamic organization of electrical professionals whose mission is to promote the success of all electrical contractors preferring to remain independent or open shop. Representing 165 electrical contractors and over 2000 journeyman electricians, associates and engineers, the IEC has become the quality symbol for the electrical industry in the Houston area. The IEC has been instrumental in interacting with local, state and national officials on legislation that has improved the industry while at the same time making the workplace environment safer. The Board of Directors and the Executive Director strive to keep members apprised of the ever-changing electrical market.

Members actively support the education of their apprentices, journeymen, master electricians and those in the industry who use their services. The IEC commitment to providing a quality work force for the year 2013 and beyond is reflected in its training, not only for the apprentice and journeyman, but also through business and management training for the contractor/company owner. More importantly, they are given the skills for a lifelong career and not just a short-term job.

Members not only can place apprentices in our 4year apprenticeship and 2 year residential apprenticeship programs, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter is one of the chapters leading the field in "online" apprentice training contractors that need to send their apprentices out of town.

Estimating, project management, lien law, labor law, productivity and the 4-hour CE classes are only a start to the continuing education offered at a member discount.
