Bob Wilkinson
Executive Director

Robert G. (Bob) Wilkinson is the Executive Director of IEC Texas Gulf Coast. He took over the position in 1989, and has been quite instrumental in the major growth in membership. The Contractor Members have grown from 38 affiliates in 1989, to over 200 members currently. The Apprenticeship Program has expanded from 50 students in 1989 to 900 and counting. Robert works consistently on matters pertaining to our local chapter, as well as State and National matters. He has been successful in adding new State Chapters and reinstating others. His vision is to see the Independent Electric Contractors Associations flourish, and further impact all issues concerning Electrical Contractors.

Bob possesses excellent credentials which qualify him to understand and direct the needs of the Association. He was born and raised in Houston, and is a third generation electrician. He served four years in the U. S. Navy as an electrician's mate. Bob attended San Jacinto College and the University of Houston. After school, he dedicated many years in the field as an Apprentice, Journeyman and Foreman, and passed his Master's Exam in 1978. He currently acquires licenses in numerous Texas cities. He is also a past member of IBEW Local 716. Since 1979, he has held the position of President of three electrical construction companies.

Bob is a member of the National Electrical Code Panel 2, The National Fire Protection Association, and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. He is also a past chairman of Texas Electrical Industrial Council, past member of the Technical Correlating Committee, past member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Electrical Contractors of Houston, Inc., a past member of IEC National Apprenticeship Curriculum Committee, and a past long-time member of the City of Houston Electrical Board. He is a delegate to the Construction Industry Council as well.

Bob is married to his lovely wife Gwen. They have one son, Bobby, and four grandchildren; Trey, Johnny, Art, and Will.
